The world’s first IMAX spin class is about to be tested in Brooklyn, and will allow indoor cyclists to feel like they are pedalling throughs solar systems, forests and other scenes.

The 45-minute spin class, called “IMAXshift”, will take place in a studio located in Brooklyn and will employ “larger than life” screen technology similar to that used in movie theatres.

The fitness class will combine indoor cycling with visuals on the wall-to-wall screen and pulsating sound.

Participants will be able to cycle through the solar system or soar over Hawaii’s coast, and the class will also match music with the visuals to create a completely immersed “sensory” experience.

The class will be offered to groups of 50 riders in Brooklyn, and could be expanded to other locations if it is successful.
