‘I think I just got hit by lightning’: US woman claims she was struck during severe storm

An American woman has captured the moment she believes she was struck by lightning during a severe thunderstorm in Idaho.

Footage caught on a phone camera by Stephanie Ray’s daughter shows a bolt of lightning followed by a loud bang and a squeal.

Ms Ray said she’s glad nothing worse happened.

“All of a sudden everything lit up, and it sounded like a gun went off,” she said.

“I really wasn’t sure what happened until two or three seconds afterward. “

She said she swore before yelling, “I think I just got hit by lighting”.

Ms Ray said her body was left tingling for several hours.
