Woman forced to get the subway to her wedding due to road closures

A Mexican bride has become somewhat of a legend in her local community after foregoing the traditional white wedding car and catching the metro.

After a car fire caused road closures in Cuemanco last Saturday, Rita Martinez was forced to think on her feet if she was going to make it on time to her wedding. And use her feet she certainly did.

Deciding it was more important to arrive on time than in style, Ms Martinez ran from her bridal car on the closed road to the local metro station.

With her billowing white gown, veil and heels, she was a spectacle to the other weekend commuters.

Luckily, she made it to the wedding on time.

"Due to a road accident, this girlfriend had to use the metro of Mexico City to arrive in time for her wedding," Imagine Television wrote as the video's YouTube caption.
