Woman falls backwards down escalator after tripping over heels

This is the painful moment a woman in China tumbled backwards down an escalator after losing her footing while wearing high heels.

The woman had just stepped onto the escalator at a train station in Nanning, Southern China on December 13 when she began to sway backwards and forwards, Nanning News reports.

CCTV footage shows her falling backwards and then continuing to tumble down the full length of the escalator, despite several attempts to right herself.

A nearby worker was forced to push the emergency stop button and rushed to the woman’s aid.

A crowd of about six workers quickly gathered around the woman and helped her off the escalator.

She reportedly suffered from bruises and left the station after treatment.

The woman was lucky to have escaped with only minor injuries.

In the past few years China has seen a spate of fatal accidents on escalators. In July a father and son toppled to their death after they fell over the side of an escalator in a shopping centre in Daqing.

In January, a girl plunged to her death while playing on an escalator in Yunnan Province.
