Homeless woman dead for seven hours in Hong Kong McDonald's before she was found

A homeless woman who died in a Hong Kong McDonald's may have been lying slumped at her table for more than seven hours while customers ate around her.

The woman, who is believed to be aged between 50 to 60 years, was found at a table in the corner of the Kowloon Bay restaurant about 24 hours after she entered, South China Morning Post reports.

CCTV footage showed her entering the restaurant at 8.39am on Saturday and sit by herself.

She had been dead for about seven hours before anyone noticed, The Huffington Post reports.

It is believed she would regularly spend her nights at McDonald's restaurants to avoid sleeping on the street.

A spokesman for McDonald's Hong Kong said the woman had asked staff for water but she did not order any food.

"In order to provide a pleasant dining environment, we would not disturb our customers, but our service will be offered promptly upon request," the spokesman said.

"To complement the modern lifestyle of people in Hong Kong, some McDonald’s restaurants operate 24 hours a day. We welcome everyone to visit out restaurants any time."
