Woman charged for throwing shoe

A woman who threw a shoe at former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as she gave a convention speech has been charged.

Alison Ernst, 36, launched the projectile at the former First Lady as she addressed an auditorium last week.

As the shoe hurled towards her, Clinton, 66, managed to duck and avoided getting hit.

Ernst ended up being tackled to the ground by security as she attempted to escape.

At this stage it is unknown what prompted Ernst to launch the bizarre attack on Ms Clinton.

Ernst has been slapped with trespassing and violence charges and is due to face court again on June 24.
