A hungry tiger's plan to make a monkey its prey was put on hiatus after the primate managed to outwit the tree-climbing predator.

In a video which turns the majestic animal viral video category on its head, it's a rare case of prey outwitting vicious predator.

The monkey can be seen swinging away from the tree-climbing tiger until it gets a bit too close for comfort.

The tiger breaks an intense stalemate between the two by swooping upon the monkey.

But the monkey manages to outwit the tiger by shaking the branch when it jumped up onto a higher one.

The tiger's resulting conundrum was captured by Corbett Wild-Ventures in Ramnagar, India.

Tigers do not generally climb trees unless incredibly hungry or provoked.

Based on the crafty monkey, either situation could have been the catalyst in this case.
