The White House is celebrating country-wide marriage equality by lighting up the entire building in rainbow colours.

The Obama administration lit the front of the building in rainbow coloured lights in the wake of the Supreme Court decision to legalise same-sex marriage across America.

A White House official said they lit up the building to “demonstrate our unwavering commitment to progress and equality.”

“The pride colours reflect the diversity of the LGBT community, and tonight, these colours celebrate a new chapter in the history of American civil rights.”

President Obama has been a very vocal supporter of marriage equality and has taken to Twitter to show his support of the decision.

Using the popular hashtag #LoveWins he encouraged followers to retweet news of the announcement.
