Strange sketch of ‘Cheshire Cat’ burglar goes viral

This strange police sketch of a burglar in the United Kingdom has thrown social media into a frenzy.

Many people are saying the wanted man looks like Cheshire Cat from Alice in Wonderland.

The electronic facial identification technique (e-fit) image, showing a man with an unusually large mouth, also looks like it may have been created in Snapchat using face swap.

Others have said it also resembled SpongeBob SquarePants, ABC News London reports.

When Warwickshire Police released the unusual portrait on Twitter on Tuesday, many thought it was a hoax.

The mock-up image has been released to appeal for help in identifying the suspect who is wanted in connection with a robbery at a home in Stratford in February.

Warwickshire Police has confirmed the image, created from a witness description, is real and that they “anticipated the attention”.

The original tweet has had more than 35,000 likes and 21,000 retweets.
