Video shows bear shot dead after Russian shopping centre rampage

Police have shot dead a bear in Russia after it escaped from a shopping mall it had become trapped in.

Video from the scene shows the bear running about the empty mall trying to escape, before it finally bursts out the front doors of the complex and into the open.

The incident happened in the far-eastern city of Khabarovsk, near the Chinese border, BBC News reports.

A policeman in camouflage fired at the bear with an assault rifle after it ran across an empty playground.

Russia's main stage investigative agency has launched an probe into the actions of police during the incident.
