Usain Bolt sneaks past Gatlin to win 100m World Championship

Jamaica's Usain Bolt has just beaten American Justin Gatlin at the World Athletics Championships in Beijing to claim the 100m title.

The Olympic champion ran a season’s personal best time of 9.79 to beat Gatlin, who had run 9.77 in his semi-final.

Bolt has faced question marks on his form this year and had stumbled in his semi-final, yet still managed to win that race to make the final.

Gatlin pushed Bolt right to the end with both lunging at the line, but Bolt’s chest was just ahead to give him his third world gold in the 100m and ninth world gold in total.

American Trayvon Bromwell and Canadian Andre De Grasse both came in at times of 9.911 seconds to share bronze.
