Woman who shot-up US McDonald's over wrong order sentenced

A woman in the US who shot at fast-food workers after they twice failed to put bacon on her burgers has been sentenced to three to seven years in prison.

Police said Michigan woman Shaneka Torres, 30, lost it in February 2014 when the first burger she first ordered through the McDonald's drive-thru came with no bacon.

She was offered a free meal but the new burger still did not have any bacon on it, WOODTV reports.

Authorities said Torres then fired a gun through the drive-thru window but no one was hit.

She was found guilty in March but was sentenced yesterday to one to five years for shooting at a building and two years for possessing a firearm during a felony.

During the trial Torres' defence lawyer tried to argue the shooting was accidental but blamed the Grand Rapids Police Department for not being able to prove this successfully, alleging they did not adequately investigate the bullet's trajectory.

Prosecutors argued Torres "intended to shoot into McDonald’s because she was pissed off" the workers got the order wrong.

Torres said she was sorry "but it's over and done with".
