A US man has been arrested for kicking a cat metres through the air in a callous attack recorded by his friends and shared on social media.
New Yorker Andre Robinson, 21, was arrested on Monday after a video shared on Facebook showed him beckoning the inquisitive street before kicking it across a courtyard.
Robinson offers his hand to the grey kitten which approaches him and seems to sniff for food.
Robinson then suddenly reels back and kicks the animal as he and his friends erupt in laughter.

The arrest report states the cat flew about 3m into the air and travelled a distance of 6m.
A veterinarian confirmed to police it was likely the cat sustained serious injuries, the New York Daily News reports.
Robinson was charged with aggravated animal cruelty, which is added to his eight prior arrests including a 2011 knifepoint robbery.
Police are searching for the stray cat which was known to residents of the Brooklyn apartment complex where the attack took place.
"We're still looking for the cat. We have to see if the cat needs medical attention," the arresting detective told the newspaper.
"We've got guys on it. It's still an active investigation," he said.
