US woman and her mother give birth on same day

A Florida woman and her daughter have given birth on the same day in the same hospital.

Destinee Martin, 20, gave birth to daughter Madeline on November 11 while her mother, 40-year-old Heather Penticoff, had a son, Damien.

The new arrivals were born just two hours and 46 minutes apart.

Both women had the same doctor and the same due dates, after also having found out they were pregnant on the same day.

Ms Martin admitted she initially wasn't excited about her mother's pregnancy, only to find the nine-month journey had brought them closer together.

"To have my mom going through it with me is actually like probably the most special, amazing thing ever," she told NBC.

Ms Penticoff said none of it had been planned.

"This is something God set in motion and you just roll with the punches," she said.

All four are now living in same Fort Myers home, with Damien in one room and his aunt Madeline just across the hall.
