US man with prosthetic leg booted from exit row

An American professional skateboarder has been kicked out of an exit row seat on a plane because of his prosthetic leg.

Tim Seward paid extra for an exit row seat for an Asiana Airlines flight from Beijing to Seoul on Sunday.

But the San Francisco man was confronted by a flight attendant who told him he had to move seats because he might not be able to perform exit row duties in an emergency.

"I cannot prove your leg is functional," the flight attendant said.

Seward stood his ground and filmed the confrontation with the flight attendant.

"I can't believe this f---ing bulls---," he wrote on Facebook.

"I ended up moving from a more expensive seat to a cheaper middle seat with no refund."

New regulations from the FAA allow people with prosthetic limbs to sit in exit row seats provided they are physically able to perform their duties.

But those rules only apply to American airlines and do not apply to Korean carriers like Asiana Airlines.

The flight was delayed for about an hour and Seward was not given a refund for switching to an inferior seat.

Seward said he had sat in the exit row on planes many times without issue.

He lost his leg at the age of 11 to cancer.

Asiana Airlines has not responded to requests for comment.
