US man left with devastating injuries after e-cigarette explosion

A US man has been left pulling broken pieces of teeth and plastic from inside his bloodied mouth after an e-cigarette exploded in his face.

Andrew Hall from Pocatello, Idaho, was getting ready for work on January 14 when the e-cigarette he was vaping blew up in his mouth.

The force of the explosion destroyed seven of his teeth and left him with second degree burns to his face.

The blast also scorched the floor and ceiling of his bathroom and blew a large chunk out of his sink.

Hall posted photos of his horrific injuries to Facebook with a stern warning to others about the dangers of vaping.

"I was getting ready for work when I had something happen to me that I didn't expect possible," he wrote on Facebook.

"I've been doing this for about a year now and assure you I did not do anything I wasn't supposed to (battery was in right, always had the shop put it together when I first bought it and add things and maintenance it the right way while taking their advice) but it exploded in my face.

"I vape (I know, terrible and uncool) but I no longer do and I hope to possible sway those that do to maybe reevaluate or find other methods of smoking."

Hall's post has been shared almost 500,000 time and has garnered a mixed response from people.

While many users have shown compassion for injured man who is still finding tooth and plastic shrapnel buried in his gums, other have lambasted him and blamed the accident on human error.

Plastic surgeon Dai Nguyen told the Sun "there have… been reports of e-cigarettes exploding in people’s mouths which resulted in catastrophic injuries similar to those you would experience if you were shot in the face by a gun".
