The US is now averaging more than one mass shooting a day, with statistics revealing the country has experienced more mass shootings than days this year.

A collection of moderators from the subReddit GunsAreCool - a sarcastic title - have compiled the data, using website massshootings.com.

Today’s shooting at Oregon Community College took place on the 273rd day of the year and marks the 295th mass shooting since January 1.

The group define a mass shooting as any incident where there are three or more victims, including the shooter.

Last month 43 American’s died from mass shootings, while 357 people have lost their lives since the beginning of the year, the Reddit users claims.

Earlier today US President Barack Obama addressed the US, chastising people that shootings have become “routine”.
“Somehow this has become routine,” Mr Obama said.

“The reporting is routine. My response here at this podium ends up being routine. The conversation in the aftermath of it… we’ve become numb to it.”

Mr Obama praised Australia and other countries with tighter gun control laws.

“We know that other countries in response to one mass shooting have managed to craft laws that almost eliminate mass shootings. Friends of ours, allies of ours, Great Britain, Australia, countries like ours,” he said.

“So we know there are ways to prevent it.”
