US driver sent airborne in high speed police chase

A high speed chase in the US ended with the driver ejecting skyward as his vehicle rolls violently off the road.

Footage taken from a police dashcam in Idaho shows an officer chasing a 4WD driven by Jose Manuel Sanchez at high speeds.

In a desperate bid to escape his pursuer, Sanchez sharply swerved his vehicle off the motorway towards oncoming traffic.

Unable to control the 4WD, he veered back onto the motorway and collided with a ditch which sends his vehicle rolling.

Sanchez is ejected high into the air in a giant ball of dust and debris.

Remarkably Sanchez stood up after the crash and attempted to run away from the officer.

The driver was charged with felony, battery on an officer, eluding and possession of a controlled substance.

He was sentenced to 15 years in prison last December.
