US driver refuses to be towed

Having your car towed is a motorist's nightmare. It combines two of the worst car calamities; having your vehicle stolen and copping a hefty fine at the same time.

But most people unlucky enough to suffer this first world tragedy grit their teeth and bare it.

This determined Florida driver is not most people.

A video shot by Brady Miller and posted online shows the man at the helm of the four-wheel drive repeatedly trying to accelerate his car out of the grip of the tow truck despite only having two tyres on the ground.

With the rear wheels suspended in the air the driver slams his foot on the accelerator but only succeeds in edging his car forward a few inches.

"I've never seen anything like this in my life," a bystander says.

"This is crazy."

It is not known how the incident ended.
