US cruise ship engulfed by waves during violent storm

New video taken on board a US cruise battered during a storm has revealed the ferocity of the waves battering the massive ship.

Musician Stephen Burke used his phone to film as Royal Caribbean's Anthem Of The Seas leaned almost 45 degrees during a violent storm last month.

Burke and several other people in a third floor room watch through their window as waves smashed against them side of the ship and completely submerged their porthole.

The ship was venturing from New Jersey to Florida in early February when it was forced to return to port due to the violent weather.

At one point in the video Burke's room when completely dark as a wave reached some of the highest point on the ship giving him an eerie view into the black abyss of the Atlantic Ocean.

Passenger on board were offered a full refund after the ship limped back to shore with extensive damage.
