US cop shot dead during her first night on the job
Prince William County Police Department tweeted this picture of Ashley Guindon (middle), the day before she was shot dead.
A young US police officer has been shot dead during her first night on the job.
Ashley Guindon, 29, was responding to a domestic violence call in Woodbridge, south of Washington D.C., when she was shot and killed.
Two other officers were injured.
The suspected shooter is an army staff sergeant who has been charged with murder, reported The Washington Post.
Ms Guindon had been sworn in just a day before she lost her life.
Prince William County Police Department tweeted a picture of Ms Guindon and another rookie officer to wish them well on their first shifts.
“Welcome Officers Steven Kendall & Ashley Guindon who were sworn in today & begin their shifts this weekend. Be safe!” the tweet read.
