Treasure hunters find sunken treasure - off Florida's treasure coast

A team of treasure hunters have found 300-year-old treasure - off Florida's aptly named Treasure Coast.

Jonah Martinez and Cole Smith found 22 Spanish coins from a 1715 shipwreck

They're worth up to $9000AUD ($6000US) WEPEC, reports 

Mr Martinez said the coins are from one of 11 Spanish galleons that sank due to a hurricane on July 31 that year

"This is our history out here," he said.

"We are not trying to profit out here, we are just collecting pieces of history. That's cool if you ask me."

"We love to be the guys who find treasure that were lost at sea more than 300 years ago."
