Train engineer kicks selfie teen in the head

A young man who tried to take a selfie right next to a moving train has suffered a rude shock from the boot of the train's engineer.

Jared Frank, who appears to be from the US, pulled out his camera just in time to capture the locomotive come past and film the moment he was kicked in the head by the irate driver as the train whizzed by.

Frank, wearing earphones, looks directly at the camera as the engine sounds its horn and the engineer screams out "hey" before laying the boot cleanly into his face.

"Wow that guy kicked me in the head," Frank says as he stands stunned.

Frank, who posted the footage on YouTube, said he was trying to take a selfie while a train passed a "safe" distance behind.

"I guess I was still too close and got kicked in the head," he wrote.

"I messed up."
