Toddler accidentally shoots US woman dead

A two-year-old child has shot dead a 29-year-old woman in a Wal-Mart store in the US state of Idaho after reaching into her bag and accidentally firing her gun.

The woman was in the store, in the town of Hayden, shopping with the two-year-old and three other children when she was shot, said Kootenai County Sheriff's Deputies, according to local television station KREM.

Employees evacuated the Wal-Mart after the shooting, which authorities at the scene described as accidental based on video surveillance and people who witnessed it.

The television station didn't identify the woman or say whether she was the mother of the toddler.

Deputies said the woman and children were in the back of the store near the electronics area at the time.

Authorities said the woman had a concealed weapons permit allowing her to carry the gun in her purse.
