Teenager murdered parents after iPod ban

A US teenager repeatedly stabbed and beat his parents to death a week before Christmas because they confiscated his iPod, a court has heard.

Vincent Parker, 16, of Norview, Virginia, told a judge today that his parents' seemingly routine punishments were behind the December 19 attack.

"I just remember getting mad," he said.

"It's all from my dad. All this stuff like my dad taking away my iPod and stuff."

Parker admitted to police that he doused his mother Carol Parker with pepper spray before stabbing her in the eye while his father was out of the house.

He then beat her in the face and head with a baseball bat and a crowbar "until she stopped breathing".

When his father Wayne Parker returned, Parker struck him with the crowbar and stabbed him several times.

The boy's father survived long enough to tell police what happened.

Speaking to reporters outside court, Parker's grandfather Allen Taylor said he had forgiven his daughter's only child and hoped the magistrate would show leniency.

"He is a smart young man," he said.

"He is smart in school. I don't know what happened."

Parker, an honour-roll student with no criminal record, pleaded guilty to two counts of second-degree murder.

He is being sentenced as an adult.
