US singer awkwardly interrupts live news report

Donning a hard-to-miss white high hat, a singer in the US has pranked a TV reporter live on air in New York.

Mario Diaz was reporting on actor Shia LaBeouf’s arrest last week when singer Erykah Badu made her strange appearance.

After grinning madly at the camera and walking behind Diaz, Badu then walks up behind the journalist and tries to kiss him.

Not knowing who it was, Diaz managed to push her away before she could plant one on him.

Twitter users watching the broadcast were quick to point out the woman looked a lot like the On & On singer.

Badu denied it at first, but later cheekily apologised to Diaz on Twitter.
