Cop filmed punching disabled woman

A police officer in the US has been caught punching a disabled woman in the face after a scuffle broke out on a bus in Los Angeles.

Army veteran Jermaine Green captured the incident on his phone and said the woman seemed "polite" when she boarded the bus pulling a stroller full of pillows with her.

"She said hi to everybody and then sat down," Mr Green said.

But when two sheriff boarded the bus at the next stop, things turned sour.

Mr Green said the pair called out to the woman by name and told her to get off the bus.

"She then started cursing at them," said Mr Green. "You could tell… it was very obvious that she had special needs."

A brief scuffle broke out between the group when suddenly the male police officer punched the woman right in the face in a seemingly unprovoked attack.

"I couldn't believe it," said Mr Green. "I mean he [the officer] saw me filming and he looked up at me and at the camera a few times and he still hit her. He didn't try to diffuse the situation at all."

Mr Green then became the target with the officers demanding he hand over the video.

"He says you can be under arrest if you don't give me that video," Mr Green said.

But the recently returned US army veteran stood his ground and refused because he was scared that if he did hand it over officers "would try to cover it up".

The L.A. county sheriff's department has refused to comment on the case but said it looking into the video.
