A woman covertly snapped in a gym shower by a Playboy Playmate has reportedly come forward to authorities and is demanding the model pay for her actions.

In July, 29-year-old Dani Mathers caused controversy when she snapped a photo of a naked woman in a gym change room coupled with a photo of herself laughing.

"If I can’t unsee this then you can’t either," she wrote on snapchat before posting it to her followers.

The playmate was vilified for her actions with the body shaming photo creating a social media frenzy that saw her banned from the L.A. Fitness centre and dismissed from a regular radio program.

If charged, Mathers could face six months in prison.

Los Angeles Police Department told People on Monday that an unnamed woman in her 70s, believed to be the subject Mathers' photo, is willing to testify against the model.

The Playboy Playmate's attorney, Tom Mesereau said he is awaiting notice form police.

"We hope the rumor is not true," Mesereau told People.

"Dani Mathers never tried to hurt anyone at any time and certainly never tried to break any law."
