The Palin family may have dropped out of the political arena but they are looming large in their native Alaska, with reports the clan was involved in a party brawl in Anchorage.

Former Alaska governor and US vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin even dropped the dreaded "Do you know who I am?", US media outlets have reported - before being told by other irate partygoers "This isn't some damned hillbilly reality show!"

Mrs Palin has claimed on her Facebook page that she was "travelling" at the time.

However, police have reportedly confirmed an alcohol-fuelled brawl took place at a party with some of the Palin family members in attendance.

While police were unsure who started the fight, Mrs Palin's husband Todd finished the night with a bloody nose.

Other reports said the couple's daughter Bristol and son Track were involved in the fight, with the latter even removing his shirt and flipping other guests the bird.
