Ex-Subway spokesman Jared Fogle attacked in jail

Convicted paedophile and disgraced ex-Subway spokesman Jared Fogle has been viciously assaulted in prison by an armed thief with a hatred for child molesters.

Fogle, who is serving 15 years in prison for possession of child pornography and engaging in sexual activity with two people under the age of 18, was set upon by 60-year old Steven Nigg who reportedly hates child molesters.

The 60-year old's nephew, Jimmy Nigg said the attack was his uncle's way of sending a message.

"If he wanted to kill Jared Fogle, he would have been able to, and he didn't. No one stopped him from assaulting Jared," Arizona Republic reports.

Fogle and Nigg were both in the prison recreational yard when the 38-year old was attacked.

The convicted robber reportedly threw Fogle to the ground and repeatedly punched him in the face at Colorado's Englewood FCI according to an official report.

The ex-Subway spokesman's face was swollen and he was left with a bloody nose and a scratched neck following the incident.

TMZ reported Nigg sustained no injuries during the attack but was placed in solitary confinement.

The 38-year old father of two was made famous after Subway restaurants appointed him its spokesperson when he lost 91kg while dieting on its sandwiches.

Fogle pleaded guilty in August 2015 to having had sex with minors and distributing and receiving child pornography.
