One dead, one wounded in shooting at US university

One person has been killed and another wounded after a shooting at a university in the US state of North Carolina.

The shooting happened at Winston-Salem State University at about 1.20am on Sunday morning, placing the campus in lockdown.

A statement from the university said it occurred in Lot W near Wilson Hall and Gleasson-Hairston Terrace.

Both victims are believed to be students.

Police are still hunting a suspect.
