Old woman finds inner child on theme park ride

Life is full of ups and downs, as this 74-year-old woman in the US will tell you.

Shirley Beeghly welcomes every single rise and fall as she contently spends her days strapped into the Space Shot, a ride at Adventureland in the state of Iowa that she has developed an addiction for.

Ms Beeghly never married or had children of her own but she's found her home among many other youngsters on the superfast vertical ride, KCCI-TV reports.

For the past three years, her addiction to the Space Shot has seen her launched into the sky day after day while she tallies her journeys, trying to beat her record of 182 times in 24 hours, set last summer.

"I'm not sure I've ever known anyone who's loved a single ride quite as much as Shirley loves the Space Shot," Adventureland employee Molly Vincent told the station.

She never screams, just sits comfortably.

"I love that Space Shot ride," she said.
