Alligator helps Florida family reveal child's gender

A family in Florida has raised the bar when it comes to wacky gender reveals.

Stacie and Chad Childs-Wright employed their pet alligator ‘Amos’ to reveal the tenth child in their family will be a girl.

The video, which was first published by Tampa Bay station Fox 10, shows Amos chomping at a balloon dangled from a long pole before finally releasing a puff of pink smoke.

Chad Childs-Wright works with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission as a nuisance wildlife trapper and has looked after Amos for 19 years.

In Australia, gender reveal parties have become increasingly popular with couples inviting friends and family to witness the revelation of an unborn babies sex.

Traditionally couples cut into a cake to reveal a colour or pop balloons, but the search for more unique or extreme reveals methods haven’t always ended well.

In April four people were arrested in NSW after a couple used coloured tyres to create blue smoke, to signify a boy, during a burn out on their street.

Two years ago an Arizona man was hit with a six-figure fine after his gender reveal explosion sparked a grass fire.

Back in Florida a bare footed Chad Childs-Wright laughed when the pink smoke was revealed by Amos.

“I told you”, Stacie Childs-Wright said as friends laughed.

“Mr, it’s a boy”.

It will be the tenth child in the couple’s blended family.
