The millionaire boss of US television network CBS has been caught on camera refusing to tip a valet attendant because he only has large bills in his wallet.

The awkward moment between CBS president and chief executive Leslie Moonves and the young attendant was captured last week by media outside a US restaurant.

In the video, posted on Gawker, Mr Moonves can be seen casually chatting with waiting media as he leaves the birthday dinner of billionaire friend and CBS executive chairman, Sumner Redstone.

As Mr Moonves, who is estimated to have a personal net worth of more than $87 million, walks towards his awaiting car he can be heard thanking the valet before taking out his wallet.

"Sh-t", Mr Moonves can be heard in the video. "I only have hundred dollar bills."

After a moment of silence, the valet lets Mr Moonves off the hook by suggesting he "get it next time sir, no worries".

To which Mr Moonves replies: "I'll get you next time, cheers".
