Matthew McConaughey used bad Aussie accent to impress women

Matthew McConaughey has admitted to faking an Aussie accent for a year in college to impress women.

During a recent interview on Late Night with Seth Meyers, McConaughey said he brought back his own version of an Australian accent after spending 12 months studying abroad between high school and university.

"The ladies kinda were (into it) ... which is why I was doing it," he told Meyers after the talk show host questioned his decision to keep his Texan accent in the voicing of a koala in the new film Sing.

"It would've been a little too literal. I decided not to," he said.

Even though his attempt at an Aussie accent was pretty lame, McConaughey noted there weren’t too many other Australian's walking around Texas for comparison.
