A man in America may have used up his supply of luck after winning the lottery twice in one day.
Kenneth Stokes of Norwood, Massachusetts lived up to his surname when his numbers were called in his state's Lucky For Life lottery drawing on Monday.
Mr Stokes was so excited when a lottery official called him with the news that he had won US$25,000 ($28,450) 'for life' he forgot that he had a second ticket with the same winning numbers.
Lottery spokesman Christian Teja said "For a game like this, where there's so many possible winning combinations ... people rarely buy the same ticket with the same numbers".
"They have to be really confident that those numbers will come in," he said.
Instead of receiving the payments over a number of years Mr Stokes decided to have his prize paid out in a lump sum and received two cheques for $444,000.
He said he plans to take his family on holiday, pay for his son's college tuition and complete his daughter's remaining car payments.
