Man runs back into burning house to rescue Xbox

A US man has risked his life by running back into a burning house to rescue his Xbox, just moments after escaping the blaze.

The identified man woke up in the early hours of Friday morning to find his home in Olathe, Kansas, engulfed in flames.

He raced outside empty-handed.

But when he realised his gaming system was still inside, the man dodged the flames as he ran back inside to grab the prized possession.

Fire officials said the man suffered smoke inhalation by running back inside the house but paramedics assessed him and said he had not sustained any serious injuries.

An electrical junction box is being blamed for sparking the fire, which caused $90,000 in damage.
