Man arrested after driving to White House checkpoint and ‘claiming to have bomb’

A man has been arrested after reportedly approaching a checkpoint near the White House in a car and claiming to have a bomb.
US broadcaster CNN reported the security incident occurred near the White House in Washington DC late today (local time), citing law enforcement officials.
The man was arrested and the car was impounded, CNN reported. The man remained in custody and the car was being checked.
President Donald Trump was not at the White House. He was spending the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida.
Earlier today, another person was arrested after jumping over a bike rack in an apparent bid to reach the fence outside the White House.

Both arrests follow a more serious incident on March 10, when a man scaled three barriers outside the building – a perimeter fence, a vehicle gate and another fence - and walked around the grounds of the executive mansion for 16 minutes before being arrested.
Mr Trump was inside the building at the time.
