Lava turns Hawaiian pond into boiling black pool

The moment molten lava touches this pond water it becomes a steaming cauldron of black, boiling sludge.

The flow from Kilauea volcano appears to be slowing but the listless lava flow still threatens homes in the town of Pahoa on Hawaii's Big Island.

The town’s cemetery has already been burnt after it was caught in the lava's path.

But even with the flow showing signs of slowing down, families and their homes still face danger.

The volcano is still in the throes of one the longest eruptions on earth, now in its 32nd year.
