Madison was reportedly staying with her relatives to try and distance herself from her husband Jarvis Madison, 58.

Mr Madison was taken into custody last Friday morning and gave police information leading investigators to a remote area in Knoxville, Tennessee, where his wife's remains were found that evening, Click Orlando reports.

"The thoughts and prayers of everyone in the FBI are with Ms Madison's family, and we remain committed to finding answers through our ongoing investigation," FBI Special Agent Charles Spencer said in a press release.

Mrs Madison's aunt, Thelma Newsom, told police she feared for her niece's safety after she didn't come home from a jog.

"I'm afraid he (Mr Madison) has abducted her," she told police operators during a 911 call.

Investigator said they believe the 44-year-old's estranged husband played a role in her disappearance.

Mr Madison was denied bail and is currently being bars.

The FBI and local investigators are continuing their investigation.
