Woman barricades herself against bedroom door to stop knife-wielding burglars

Terrifying footage has emerged of two burglars attempting to break down a door a woman and baby were hiding behind during a California home invasion.

Surveillance camera footage showed the men enter owner Bikram Singh’s San Jose home in broad daylight through back doors after they briefly checked out the home through some windows.

Upon entering the house one of the men immediately disconnected the phone landline in the kitchen.

The pair then armed themselves with knives.

Both dressed in jeans and dark hooded jumpers, the men appear to be speaking to each other in a lounge room when the cries of a one-year-old baby coming from an upstairs bedroom jolt their heads upwards. The baby is hiding with Mr Singh’s sister-in-law.

The bandits quickly bolt up the stairs and check the empty master bedroom before one of them realises the terrified occupants are in a back bedroom.

One of the intruders attempts to bash the door down as the woman barricades herself against the door.

After kicking a hole in the door, the bandits then fled down the stairs and left the property.

"We are still in shock. It was a terrible experience," Bikram Singh told KGO-TV News. 

Police are appealing to the public to help identify the suspects.
