High-speed chase winds through oncoming traffic and onto footpaths

Five teenagers have been arrested after leading police on a high speed chase over footpaths and towards oncoming traffic in the US state of Wisconsin.

Dashcam video from the pursuing police car shows car being driven erratically along a road.

At one point, the car narrowly misses a vehicle at an intersection.

It then drives along footpaths between properties through to a parallel street.

A short time later, several police cars join he chase and one can be seen tailing the teenagers as they swerve through traffic.

The vehicle’s bumper was left sticking upright after a collision, as it moved on to the wrong side of the road, navigating its way through oncoming traffic.

Two police cars were damaged in the chase and police were forced to terminate the pursuit to avoid harming motorists and pedestrians, ABC affiliate WISN reports.

The five suspects, aged between 16 and 18, were caught when police found the vehicle a short time later.

They have been arrested and are facing charges related to the chase.
