Handcuffed teen saves cop's life after jailhouse heart attack

A handcuffed teen was being booked into a US jail when the policeman suddenly collapsed in front of him from a heart attack.

Footage shows the officer, Franklin Foulks, falling to the ground and clasping his chest inside the jail at Fort Lauderdale, Florida.

It was the arrested teen who helped save him, NBC Miami reports.

Jamal Rutledge, who was being charged with criminal mischief and burglary, got up and kicked the fence security gate, yelling for help and pointing to Foulks with his chained hands.

Other officers soon responded and rushed a defibrillator into the room for paramedics to restart Foulks's heart.

Doctors said that if the rescue had taken much longer, Foulks would have died.

Rutledge will now be publicly commended for his actions along with three officers involved in the rescue.

The incident happened in September but the video has only just been released.
