Goats take over Berkeley hills

Hundreds of goats have taken over the hills in the scenic Californian college town of Berkeley, bringing traffic to a standstill in the annual tradition.

The herd was released on Friday afternoon and footage captured by a Berkeley Lab employee shows the animals stampeding down a hill through Eucalyptus trees and onto a road where men in high-visibility vests block cars.

The goats belong to the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, which releases the animals every year to eat grass to and reduce fire hazards.

Footage of the goats taking over the hills around Centennial Drive have gone viral since they were posted online over the weekend.
