Sydney-bound Qantas flight diverted to LA over sick passenger

A Qantas flight from Dallas to Sydney has been diverted to Los Angeles International Airport after a passenger had a medical emergency.

The Airbus 380 landed in Los Angeles early on Thursday morning, Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles says.

She said the Fire Department transported the sick passenger to a hospital for treatment. The nature of the illness was not disclosed.

The remaining 180 passengers on Flight QF8 were put up by the airline in local hotels.

The flight is scheduled to depart again for Australia on Thursday night.
