Cliff diver coughs up blood after 15m bellyflop

A US adrenaline junkie was left coughing up blood after his daring plunge off a 15m high cliff ended in what is perhaps one of the worst bellyflops ever committed to film.

Extreme sportsman Chase Reinford recovered relatively well in the arms of a bikini-clad blonde after the stunt, which was made all the worse by the fact he launched himself off the cliff with the aid of a trampoline.

Onlookers cringe in sympathy the instant Reinford hits the water after the doomed plunge, during which he spins crazily head-over-ankles, only to try and straighten out at exactly the wrong time.

"I fought a cliff, but the cliff won," Reinford says ruefully after regaining his breath and hacking up the kind of thick, red blood associated with internal organs.

"Be safe, don’t do that," the chastened daredevil says. "Don't try a quad front flip, because it's just really tough to do."
