Burger King worker finds $100k in backpack

A bag with $100,000 in it has been found by the assistant manager of a Burger King in Northern California.

Sahista Bakawla spotted the blue backpack in a booth while she was cleaning the San Jose restaurant early on Wednesday.

"I twice cleaned, like two or three times cleaned the tables and it's still here," she said, adding that she waited until 3pm for someone to claim it before calling the owner Altaf Chaus.

Mr Chaus came into his restaurant and decided to open the bag, hoping to find some identification.

"I open the zipper, I see lots of money, cash money, $100 bills stack up like half the bag, money (sic)," Mr Chaus told ABC-7.

"I said, 'Wow! Today's my birthday, this is my birthday gift.'"

But Mr Chaus decided to call the police who are now working to find the real owner.

But so far no one has stepped up to claim the bag stuffed with $100 and $50 bills, a bit of marijuana, some candy and a bank slip.
