'Zombies' high on dangerous drug swarm Brooklyn

Stoned “zombies” have taken over a Brooklyn street with 33 overdoses recorded in a single day from the synthetic drug K2.

Horrified witnessed watched as a horde of people high on the designer drug staggered around before collapsing on the ground.

The prevalence of the synthetic drug K2 has reportedly reached epidemic proportions with dozens of users scattered throughout an entire Brooklyn block.

Between 9.30am and 8.30pm on July 12, emergency crews were repeatedly called to treat people near the subway station at Myrtle Ave and Broadway, NY Times reports.

Local resident Brian Arthur recorded video of the drug users, dubbing it a scene from "Zombieland".

"These people, they can't get enough of this K2 stuff and it's really ruining this area. It's crazy right now," Arthur said.

"It’s like a scene out of a zombie movie, a horrible scene. This drug truly paralysed people."

K2 or spice is made using a mixture of herbs, spice or plant material and is laced with chemicals to simulate the effect of THC.
