An American man who was savaged twice in one day by the same grizzly bear has posted a graphic video of his bloody injuries.

Todd Orr, 50, confronted a grizzly bear and her cubs while walking in the Madison Range in Montana on Saturday, reports the New York Daily News.

He said the mother charged him even after he attempted to deter the animal with bear spray. The bear finished on top of him, biting ferociously and dislodging a pistol from Orr’s pocket.

On the video, Orr is shown with a blood splattered face and a badly gnawed forearm and ear describing the terrifying incident.

“The force of each bite was like a sledgehammer with teeth. She would stop for a few seconds and then bite again. Over and over,” he says.

At the end of his initial ordeal, Orr says he checked his legs and vital organs for injury before starting the six-kilometre walk back to his truck.

But the bear wasn’t finished yet.

After about  10 minutes walking through a forest track, he heard rummaging in nearby trees and within a few seconds the grizzly attacked him again.

“She was instantly on me again. I couldn’t believe this was happening a second time. Why me?” Orr says in the video.

This time he pretended to be dead and the bear lost interest and left. Orr walked the remaining distance to his truck and drove himself to hospital.
