Armed protesters gather outside convicted sex attacker Brock Turner’s home

Brock Turner, the ex-Stanford University student convicted of sexual assault, has been targeted by protesters waiting outside his family's Ohio home.

The 21-year-old was jailed on June 2 after being convicted of sexually assaulting a 23-year-old woman from Palo Alto, California, on the US university campus last year.

His light sentence ignited a national furore, with Turner released from jail on Friday after serving three months of a six-month sentence.

Demonstrators targeted the family home with signs which read "castrate rapists" and "if I rape Brock will I only do 3 months?"

ABC News reported that some of the protesters were apparently armed with weapons.

"He's not going to live some happy pleasant life," one protester told WCPO-TV.

"We're never going to let him forget what he did."

"If he is uncomfortable then he begins to receive at least some punishment that he deserves for his crime," another protester said.

Protesters wrote messages in chalk on the pavement outside the home, including "shoot your local rapist" and "Rapist" with an arrow pointing to the Sugarcreek Township, Ohio family home.

Turner's father came under fire in June after he downplayed his son's crime as nothing more than "20 minutes of action."

TMZ reports that the Turner family have asked local police to help them deal with threats to their safety.

The Stanford rape case has drawn attention to the crimes of rape and sexual assault across US college campuses, amid criticism that handling of these cases is often lax.

Last week, the judge responsible for Turner's sentence, Judge Aaron Persky, asked to be removed from future criminal cases.
